TREATMENT OF MULTIPLE GINGIVAL RECESSION WITH THE USE OF A PORCINE-DERIVED GRAFTING MATERIAL: A CASE SERIES

dc.description.abstractAim: The aim of this case series study was to investigate the use of a new porcinederived graft material (NovoMatrix RTM ) for the treatment of multiple gingival recessions. Material and Methods: Ten root coverage surgeries were carried out in six patients with teeth affected by multiple gingival recessions by means of multiple coronally advanced flap or modified coronally advanced tunnel procedures with the use of NovoMatrix RTM as an alternative to autogenous connective tissue graft. Results: At baseline, measurements of probing pocket depth, gingival recession, keratinized tissue width, patient-reported outcomes and Smile Esthetic Index were collected. Mean buccal recession decreased from 2.70 mm to 0.94 mm at 6 months, with mean root coverage percentage of 59.19% and mean buccal KT increases from 2.16 mm to 2.39 mm. Visual analogue scores for sensitivity were reduced, while SEI scores for aesthetics increased compared with baseline. Conclusion: These results remained stable at 12 months, indicating that NovoMatrixRTM could be a potential alternative to autogenous connective tissue graft.
