T This research is aimed at evaluating the current status of research and practices regarding triads in a supply chain and how such triads are involved in generating value in a supply chain by conducting a structured review of literature. Literature search process has generated a total of 39 articles which are included in the final review in this study. Four key themes are generated as a result of structured review of literature. Theme 1 has identified three main triadic structures as the buyer-supplier-supplier, supplier-buyer- buyer and service triads and service triads are considered to be optimum in terms of value creation in supply chain networks. Theme 2 has identified the relational behaviour among actors in a supply chain management and it is found in this regard that three triadic structures of supplier-buyer-buyer, buyer-supplier-supplier and service triads are instrumental in generating their own respective attributes and relational dynamics with all actors in a supply chain, however, service triads are considered to be effective in creating strong relational dynamics by aligning all actors in a supply chain network. Theme 3 has identified key issues and challenges in triads such as achieving relational stability, equal distribution of power among all actors in a supply chain, capitalising on the capabilities of all stakeholder, risk sharing, outsourcing, transference of technology across the supply chain and limited presence of service triads in a supply chain. Lastly, Theme 4 has identified that triadic relationships are instrumental in creating value in supply chain by generating sharing economy which is one of the central goals of effective supply chain management
