Based on the findings of past research, it has been found that cybersecurity issues in implantable medical devices not only disrupt the functionality of healthcare organizations, but also pose a serious threat to the safety and health of a patient. Methodology: As the research is at its infancy stage, literature review method has therefore been used to measure the impact of cybersecurity issues on the healthcare organizations as well as on patients. Results: Based on the analysis, it has been found that internal as well as external attacks can disrupt the functionality and performance of the healthcare system. It has been recommended that FDA should develop proper guidelines to mitigate the effects and manufacturers should design secure IMDs to ensure the safety and protection of the patients. Conclusion: A collaboration is required to be developed between healthcare practitioners, government and the FDA to prevent cyberattacks and to bring considerable improvement in the security of implantable medical devices.
