Lately, there has been a growing emphasis on the private sector in Saudi Arabia. One of the goals of Saudi Arabia's new vision is to improve the performance of its private higher education sector so that it becomes a major contributor to economic growth, the development of human capital, and achieves a world-class position. As to the QS ranking system, only one private university was included in the top ten Saudi Arabian universities and the sole private university from Saudi Arabia to be featured in the top 200 higher education institutions in the Arab region. Hence, it is crucial to analyse the factors that affect the performance of top private universities in order to obtain valuable insights that may lead to meaningful improvements to the existing state of private university performance. This study thus seeks to examine the role of organisational learning in the relationship between employee participation, career planning, training & development, and organisational performance among academic staff at selected private Saudi Arabian universities. The study was conducted objectively by using a stratified sampling technique. which targeted 314 academicians employed by six Saudi Arabian private universities. A total of 300 usable responses were valid for further analysis using PLS-SEM. The findings revealed that both employee participation and career planning were found to have a direct positive effect on the performance of private universities. On the contrary, career planning did not have a direct influence on organisation performance. Meanwhile, organisational learning was found to be a significant mediator between employee participation, career planning, training & development, and private universities performance. The present research adds to the existing literature by offering fresh perspectives on the relationship between employee participation, career planning, training and development and performance of private universities, and the crucial function of organisational learning as a mediator among these variables. Policymakers may utilise this study's findings to adapt organisational learning as primary strategy to address performance challenges. Research limitations and recommendations for future research were also thoroughly discussed.224enKeywords: Training & developmentcareer planningemployee participationorganisational learningorganisation performanceEMPLOYEE PARTICIPATION, CAREER PLANNING, TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, ORGANISATIONAL LEARNING AND PERFORMANCE OF PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN SAUDI ARABIAThesis
