Young, Jr., School Of Social Work, 2018) Aljuaid, Asma Mubarak M; Jin, Seok WonThrough a comprehensive systemic review of the literature, this study showed the links between a lack of social support and both increased depression and declines in academic achievement among international students. The study identifies factors that create a lack social support among international students, who confront acculturation conflicts which lead to depression. Also, they have unique challenges, such as difficulties with English, struggles with academic courses, and a lack of resources, and they face cultural, social, and environmental pressures. They lack the support of a society that they comprehended, and international students who received social support achieved higher grade point averages. International students also faced substantially higher academic stress than native U.S. students did.29 0
