Item Restricted ACCULTURATION AND SEEKING CAMPUS COUNSELING SERVICES AMONG SAUDI INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE UNITED STATES: AN INTREPRETATIVE PHENOMENOLOGICAL ANALYSIS(University of Mississippi, 2024-12) Almutairi, Abdullah; Stephanie, LuskThis study adopts a phenomenological qualitative approach to explore and examine the acculturation process of Saudi students living in the United States, particularly in relation to their access to campus counseling services. The findings of this study identify five themes: 1) pre- migration expectations and realities, 2) journey of cultural adaptation, 3) navigating academic adaptations, 4) coping with acculturation and academic pressures, and 5) expectations of services provided by campus counseling experiences. This study highlights that the acculturation journey is a complex experience that affects Saudi students’ psychological well-being, which hinders their access to campus counseling services. The purpose of this is to study addresses the research gap that explores the interplay of acculturation and seeking campus counseling services, which shed light on the challenges and obstacles of this population through their acculturation process. Implications are provided for higher education policy, university counseling centers, and Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission.28 0Item Restricted Developing a medical robot for MR guided cardiac catheterization(university college london, 2024) Almutairi, Abdullah; Muthurangu, VivekCardiac catheterization involves the insertion of a needle into the veins, enabling physicians to obtain images of the heart without invasive surgery. This procedure, therefore, plays a key role in the diagnosis and treatment of various heart diseases. In recent years, there has been widespread adoption of robotics in surgical procedures, whereby some of the benefits include efficiency, a faster operational speed, and a high rate of action reproducibility. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the application of behavioural cloning in training robotic systems to perform robotic magnetic resonance–guided catheterization on 3D-printed heart models. Six 3D heart models were printed, and the time taken to perform the catheterization process was measured. The data collection process consisted of manual catheterization, catheterization using a joystick, and simulations of both processes. The results indicated that the manual catheterization process was faster than the robotic one. Nevertheless, the success of the robotic-assisted simulation indicates that it is possible to use behavioural cloning to train the robotic systems to perform catheterization. This study demonstrates that behavioural cloning can be effectively adopted in the catheterization process, whereby learning models can be developed for conducting catheterization procedures.15 0Item Restricted Examining Transformational Leadership's Impact on Employee Growth and Satisfaction in Dammam – A Comparative Study of Public & Private Healthcare Facilities in Dammam(Leeds Beckett University, 2024-08) Almutairi, Abdullah; Arogundade, SuhaibTransformational leadership has been applied in several organisations in leading changes and breakthroughs that have been critical to the survival and transformation of the performance of the organisations where they have been applied. In this light, the aim of this research is to examine the influence of transformational leadership on employee growth and satisfaction in the healthcare industry of Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The positivism research philosophy is employed, along with a deductive approach and a survey research strategy. In the survey conducted, a total of 107 potential respondents were contacted, with 80 responses obtained. Both descriptive and inferential analysis were employed in analyzing the data collected. The descriptive analysis showed that both the private and the public healthcare facilities had leaders that employed styles and methods that were aligned with the transformational leadership approach. However, more respondents in the public healthcare facilities agreed to the positive impact that transformational leadership has on their satisfaction and growth, compared to the private healthcare facilities. While this suggested that the impact of transformational leadership on growth and satisfaction was more in the public healthcare facilities, the inferential analysis conducted revealed that the difference in the impact was only significant when considering promotion of workload management (work-life balance), performance, team morale, and team problem resolution as indicators of transformational leadership.29 0Item Restricted Insider Trading, Tax Haven Utilisation, Managerial Resource Diversion and the Propensity to Engage in Related Party Transactions: Evidence from Australia(Curtin University, 2024-02-02) Almutairi, Abdullah; Evans, Robert; Eulaiwi, BabanThe thesis comprises three essays on the accounting and financial outcomes of related party transactions (RPTs) in Australian markets. Specifically, these essays explore the role and influences of RPTs on insider trading, tax havens and managerial resource diversion. Standard-setters have long attempted to strike a balance between the legitimate commercial reasons underpinning RPTs and the increased risk posed when insiders deal with the enterprises they control. Although the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) states that RPTs may have legitimate commercial purposes, they are most concerned about the nature of non–arm’s length relationships and outcomes. The three essays extend the knowledge of RPTs and their relationship to corporate insiders’ decisions and behaviour in the context of the Australian market. The first chapter provides an introduction and background relating to RPT regulations in Australia. This chapter presents the objectives and motivation of the study. Further, this chapter provides the results and contribution of the thesis. The second chapter represents the first essay, which examines the association between RPTs and insider trading. The essay uses a sample of the largest 300 Australian firms from 2008 to 2019, and the results show a positive and significant association between RPTs and insider trading. These results indicate that corporate insiders’ trades increase in line with the level of RPTs. Moreover, it uses environmental, social and governance (ESG) as moderator variables. The results indicate that the ESG score moderates the association between RPTs and insider trading. The findings are robust to additional measures of insider trading and endogeneity issues. The third chapter represents the second essay of the thesis, which examines the association between tax haven use and RPTs. The study uses a sample of the largest 300 Australian firms from 2008 to 2019 and finds a positive and significant association between tax haven use and RPTs. Corporate insiders increase transactions with related parties in line with an increase in reliance on tax haven jurisdictions. Moreover, the interaction between tax havens and earnings management is positive and significant with the use of RPTs. Finally, the interaction between ownership concentration and tax haven use is positively related to the use of RPTs. Further, these results are robust iv based on the generalised method of moments (GMM) and propensity score matching (PSM) tests. The fourth chapter represents the third essay of the thesis, which investigates the association between RPTs and managerial resource diversion. This essay uses a sample of the top 300 Australian firms from 2008 to 2019 and find that RPTs are positively and significantly associated with cash holdings and dividends. The essay also finds a negative and significant association between RPTs and capital expenditure. Further, the essay examines the association between RPTs and firm performance. The results show a negative and significant association between RPTs and firm performance. Finally, the results are robust to additional endogeneity tests. The fifth chapter concludes the thesis and provides avenues for future studies.7 0
