Item Restricted Physical Learning Environment for Autism in Dammam: Evaluation and Analysis(Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, 2019) Alqutub, Rahaf Amro; Alnaim, MasharyAutism spectrum disorder is a complicated neurological disorder, that until now is inscrutable. The population of Individuals on the spectrum over the world is increasing due to the increased awareness. As their numbers grow, professionals of many fields start study their ASD cases to provide them a better life. The built-in environment is a part of the learning prosses that can be a frightening and confusing place, which leads to a negative impact on children with ASD. The environmental and behavioral research has profoundly influenced the practice of architecture and there is a growing trend towards user-centered and evidence-based designs. Architects have a responsibility to provide an inclusive built environment to improve the quality of life. The thesis methodology was (POE) to help to understand the interaction between children with ASD and their physical learning environment. Also, this methodology highlights a challenge that the researcher faces when considering the ASD environment and then examines lessons to be learned from two cases studied in a Saudi Arabia context. The result of this study found that ignoring the impact of physical learning environment leads to uncontrolled behaviors. New evidence shows that combining social and sensory of autistic needs may improve learning performance. In addition, few guidelines need further studies to be more accurate and fit Saudi Arabia's context. Finally, by highlighting the role of physical learning environments on children with ASD it will hopefully increase the awareness while designing facilities to involve them in mainstream education and society at large10 0
