Item Restricted Business Planning(Bangor University, 2023-08-31) nabhan, Bandar bin; Mather, CarlFor individuals suffering from lower back pain, diabetes, or obesity, custom-made shoes are a crucial necessity. Without them, their health and quality of life can decline significantly. Approximately 25 million people in the UK, which accounts for about 43% of the population, fall into this category. Assuming London’s situation is similar to the general population trend, opening a store in the city could cater to the needs of 3.87 million people while also offering an online version for others. Recent technological advancements such as 3D printing or additive manufacturing and AI can help meet the demand for comfortable, fast, affordable custom-made shoes. The current market for custom-made shoes in the UK and London is driven by small retail stores, brands, or printing shops that cannot provide the customer with the total production of custom shoes, take too much time to make them or lack shoe-making expertise. While online stores can be an alternative, they do not offer an in-person customer experience, often needed for patients with non-standard feet. The company plans to open a 3-D printing custom shoe-made store-factory in London, equipped with eight 3D printers and other necessary equipment to address these issues, as well as an online store, with AI being used to measure the customers’ feet. Investors’ capital and bank loans will cover the company’s expenses. The company will likely generate a positive net profit in the third year of operation, with machinery expenses and loans being fully recovered in the fourth year. The company will increase its total assets and cash flows during its first year of operating, indicating great potential for the business.19 0
