Assess Perspective and Knowledge of Healthcare Providers Towards Telehealth in Saudi Arabia: A Systematic Review
(Saudi Digital Library, 2023-11-28) Mulayhi, Badriah Mousa; George, Jomin
Background and Objective: Telehealth has become a well-known tool for the delivery of health care in Saudi Arabia, and the perspective and knowledge of healthcare providers are influential in the implementation, adoption and advancement of the method. This systematic review was conducted to examine the current literature base regarding telehealth and the related healthcare professional perspective and knowledge in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods: This systematic review was conducted by searching seven databases, including MEDLINE, CINHAL, Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, PsycINFO and ProQuest Central. Inclusion criteria designated studies that were published in the English language from 2000 to 2023 in Saudi Arabia, full-text available and assessed the perspective or knowledge of healthcare providers towards telehealth. This systematic review was guided by Boland's guidance. All related studies were individually assessed by the researcher using the AXIS tool, which assesses the quality of cross-sectional studies in a systematic review. Data were extracted into a table, and a narrative synthesis was carried out to summarise and report the findings. Results: Ten studies met the inclusion criteria out of the 1840 search results. Positive perspective and low levels of knowledge among providers were observed across the studies. Frequent reasons for a positive attitude toward telehealth among healthcare providers were improving healthcare quality, access and delivery, saving time and money and its effective use. In addition, age, gender, profession and work experience were identified as factors associated with health professionals' knowledge level. The major challenges facing healthcare providers in practicing telehealth in Saudi Arabia are insufficient expert support, patient privacy, internet connection issues, lack of training courses, lack of knowledge of telehealth usage and high cost. Conclusions: This systematic review highlighted the existing perception and knowledge of health care providers towards telehealth. As a compilation of the varied personal attitude and knowledge of concerned professionals, it will assist in the better implementation of telehealth in Saudi Arabia, improve its advancement as a health care delivery option and reduced common challenges to its use.

''Perspectives of Saudi employees working in Small and Medium Sized enterprises in Saudi Arabia about the impact of transformational leadership on their reactions and attitudes towards organizational change''
(Saudi Digital Library, 2023-08-25) Shalhoob, Huda Shafiq; Doloriert, Clair
The focus on the study highlighted purposed was informed by the lack of Saudi studies that examine employee's perspectives about the key mechanisms and variables contributing to this positive effect. To understand the employees' perspectives about the impact of transformational leadership on reactions of employees to organisational change, a qualitative methodological approach was adopted. Using open-ended semi-structured questions allowed in-depth exploration of how employees described their perspectives about the change process. Data was collected from interviews with 8 participants. The findings revealed a complex emotional landscape among employees that accompanies organizational changes, which require transformational leaders to understand and manage. The study also showed that transformational leadership positively impacts employee attitudes towards change by fostering hope, personal growth, and collective success. Leadership styles that incorporate collaborative and participatory leadership, grounded in authenticity and align with transformational values fosters positive perceptions. Transparency and effective communication were also noted to promote ownership, empowerment, trust and engagement during change. The other conclusion is that involving employees in decision-making and providing ongoing support enhances commitment and help address uncertainty. Finally, the study indicated that effective change management involves presenting an inspiring vision. The key message for leaders and practitioners is that successful change goes beyond technical aspects; it requires a holistic approach that considers the emotional, psychological, and collaborative dimensions of both leaders and employees. This approach can lead to more successful and sustainable organizational transformations.

What factors make reading comprehension difficult for English learners in Saudi primary schools from the teachers’ perspective?
(University of Reading, 2023-10-03) Aljaloud Alhanouf; Tsakalaki, Anna
This research investigated the challenges limiting reading comprehension abilities among young learners in Saudi Arabia's primary schools where English is taught to them as a second language. The study adopted a mixed-method methodology, employing both quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews to gain a complete understanding of the factors influencing reading comprehension difficulties and potential strategies for improvement. The study recruited 23 participants, where 20 participated in the study survey while the remaining three were part of the qualitative interviews. The research was guided by two main research questions, them being: (1) What factors make reading comprehension difficult for English learners in Saudi elementary schools from the teachers' perspective? and (2) What strategies might help teachers improve reading comprehension ability for English language learners in Saudi primary schools? The outcomes from this study showed that a number of factors that contributed to the reading comprehension challenges faced by the young learners in Saudi Arabia primary schools, including linguistic elements, including grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, and language variations. Difficulties with grammar, limited vocabulary, and phonemic challenges hindered a proper pronunciation and spelling, ultimately affecting learners' capacity to understand English language texts. Moreover, the differences between the native Arabic language and English create a cultural void that limited an effective comprehension. There were also inadequacies in the syllabus and curriculum, particularly with lack of clear objectives in the curriculum and a steep learning slope presenting challenges for learners' reading comprehension abilities. The study recommended addressing the challenges with the curriculum and also employing active teaching and learning techniques to develop effective English reading comprehension skills among the young learners in the Saudi Arabia primary schools.
