dc.description.abstractThis dissertation aims to investigate the thermal stability and decomposition kinetics for polymer electrolytes and their nano- composite, which represent one of the main sources for obtaining information on their safety for handling, storage, and use in manufacturing batteries. Thermogravimetry thermal analysis (TGA) techniques is the most important and known technique to study thermal behavior of these materials. The decomposition kinetic of PVA-electrolyte and its nanocomposite was studied by isothermal and non-isothermal TGA under various heating rates. Kinetic parameters such as activation energy, onset temperature, and thermal stability will obtained via the theoretical models proposed by Kissinger and Flynn–Wall–Ozawa (FWO). TGA was used to study the effect of adding salt (e.g LiCl) and nano- particles of metal-oxides (e.g AgNO3) on the glass transition and melting point for the proposed three phase systems.
