Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this in-vitro study is to evaluate and compare the energy delivered [Radiant Exposure – RE (mJ/cm2)] by one LED LCU ]Valo corded “polywave” (Ultradent)] through two commonly used CAD/CAM materials. Methods: A total of 60 samples were allocated in 12 groups (5 per group). The samples were fabricated by one calibrated operator, using two CAD/CAM restorative materials (E.max CAD and Tetric CAD) in clinically most used shade (A2), two translucencies (HT and MT), and three thicknesses (1, 1.5, and 2 mm). Piolet study was conducted for power analysis and sample size calculation. It revealed a power value ranged between 0.9 – 1. Light transmission was conducted with spectral light meter instrument. Statistical analysis for CAD/CAM materials conducted with t-test and one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc. Tests were performed with a pre-set significance of 0.05. Results: There was a significant difference in RE in all three tests (p<0.001) except when comparing between the two materials in the medium translucency with 1.5mm and 2mm thickness there was no significant difference with a p value of (0.806) and (0.837) respectively.
