Abstract
Today Schools in Saudi Arabia have a significant issue in interior design and
how to apply sustainability and green interior design practices. The aim of
this research is to find out the critical impact of sustainability on students'
performance. As designers or practitioners, we must educate students and
make them aware of how their built environment and actions affect their
academic performance in the study and the preservation of our natural
environment and the future application of sustainability practices and their
effects on student’s health. From this principle, several reasons have come
to light in support of the impact that facility design has on student
performance. The research problem considers the extent of applying
sustainability concepts in designing School buildings and the extent of their
impact on students' academic performance. This study will reveal clear
evidence that the interior design characteristics of the classroom and the
school as a whole influence student's learning. Moreover, there is a
relationship between health and a healthy environment in the classroom
and its impact on academic performance, which can be improved by the
application of sustainable interior design elements such as clean air, natural
light, an environment free of substances and toxic chemicals, and much
more that can spread a healthy environment for students. One of the
objectives of this study is to improve student and teacher health within the
interior spaces through implementing these ideas and designing schools of
sustainable nature.
