Sexual Harassment Law in the United States, Britain, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Proposal for Reforms
Abstract
This doctoral dissertation, entitled " Sexual Harassment Law in the United States, Britain, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Proposal for Reforms", examines the application of sexual harassment law at workplaces and educational institutions in the USA, Britain, and the KSA. In addition, it sets out proposals for amendments to the sexual harassment law in the KSA, to create stricter and more effective regulations.
This dissertation comprises seven chapters. The first introduces sexual harassment and sets out the aim of the dissertation. The second chapter offers an overview of the historical background to sexual harassment crimes in the USA, Britain, the KSA. The third chapter details the federal, California, and New York States' sexual harassment laws as applied in US workplaces. Additionally, it outlines the federal sexual harassment law as applicable within educational institutions. In doing so it highlights the components of the sexual harassment law and clarifies the law's strengths. The fourth chapter details sexual harassment law in British workplaces and educational institutions, and focuses on the benefits of the law.
The focus of chapter five is on existing sexual harassment laws in the KSA in workplaces and educational institutions, examining the effectiveness of the law in the community. Chapter six, in turn, compares sexual harassment laws in the USA, Britain, and the KSA and then recommends the amended sexual harassment law in the KSA. The dissertation concludes with a summary of the main conclusions and analyses, and some recommendations that can serve as a basis for reform and additional research.
