Abstract
Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) represent a serious source of hazard due
to its deleterious health effects. Soil contamination with petroleum derivatives including
PAHs is an increasing problem in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other parts of the world.
The main aim of this project was to define some catabolic gene markers for degradation of
certain PAHs by bacteria in contaminated soils collected from Almadinah Almunwarah.
Molecular biology techniques were used as an alternative a
