Abstract
Pronunciation instruction provides a variety of activities that can help students improve their speaking skills. It also can facilitate communication and reduce communication problems that might occur between native and non-native speakers. My project focuses on teaching pronunciation, including segmental and suprasegmental features for both the MSA and Hijazi varieties of Arabic. I have focused on this to address the needs of learners who want to be able to communicate with native speakers using both types of Arabic. The project is a portfolio of activities that was designed based on the communicative framework phases for teaching pronunciation. Sample lessons demonstrate my application of these activities integrated with different skills. These lessons and activities can be applied to Intermediate and Advanced levels.
