Smart antennas field has grown fast in recent years. This is due to the advantages it adds to wireless communication field. This is due to the fact that nulls and beams can be steered adaptively to meet specific requirements what makes it more directive and in turn secure, economic and capable of tracking. Because of this it is used in many application i.e., radar, sonar, mobile and wireless communication & networks. The focus of this thesis is to develop an LMS based algorithm to suit array antenna for tracking purposes. In this thesis the convergence speed of the standard LMS is improved, by developing new approach for varying the step size of the standard LMS algorithm. The new proposed algorithm will drive beam former, linear and planar arrays, to enable the array to adapt quickly to meet the objectives of the tracking of moving objects. The performance of the new proposed algorithm will be justified with simulation results. As we will see from the simulation results later, the new proposed algorithm will outperform the standard LMS. This can be seen from the convergence speed and study state error which are the performance indices.
