A Study on the Etiology of Bacterial Pneumonia of the Camel (Camelus dromedarius) in Al Ahsa Province, KSA

Abstract

This study was carried out with the aim of identification of bacterial causative agents of pneumonia of dromedary camels and to study their antibiogram. A total of 100 specimens were collected from lung lesions of dromedary camels slaughtered at Al-Ahsa Abattoirduring one year. All specimens were cultured following standard conventional methods. Bacterial colonies were presumptively identified by morphology and Gram’s stain then confirmed using VITEK®2 automated microbial identification system.G
