dc.description.abstract | Optimal Power Flow (OPF) problem in electrical power systems is considered as a static non-linear, multi-objective optimization problem. As the power industrial companies have been moving into a more competitive environment, OPF has been used as a tool to define the level of the inter-utility power exchange. This thesis provides a new approach to solve the multi-objective OPF problem considering critical objective functions for utility/industrial companies, while satisfying a set of system operating constraints, including constraints dictated by the electrical network. Also, it gives an efficient software package based on the latest improvements in the area of multi-objective optimization using Artificial Intelligence techniques. The IEEE-30 bus system is used throughout this work to test the proposed algorithms. A comparison between results of the single objective problem and the multi-objective problem is discussed. Further objective functions and constraints can be easily added to the developed software package in order to study the overall performance of such modifications. | |
