Abstract
This report examines the transformative integration of a century-old leader in the
plumbing and bathroom supplies industry in Australia. Faced with the limitations of a
legacy ERP system, which resulted in data silos and operational inefficiencies, Reece
made a strategic decision to modernize its operations through intelligent integration. By
partnering with SnapLogic, a pioneer in AI-driven integration platforms, Reece aimed to
enhance its operational efficiency and foster seamless collaboration across its various
systems. The report outlines the project's background, detailing how Reece transitioned
from a monolithic ERP system to a best-of-breed software approach. This shift was
motivated by the need for flexibility, improved customer service, and the ability to
respond swiftly to market changes. After a thorough evaluation process, Reece selected
SnapLogic for its user-friendly interface, robust capabilities, and alignment with Reece's
vision for a scalable and future-proof solution. The implementation was executed using
a phased approach, focusing on integrating critical systems such as Workday, Oracle,
and Salesforce within an ambitious six-month timeline.
Key findings of the report highlight the success of the SnapLogic integration in
significantly improving Reece's operational efficiency, enhancing data visibility, and
enabling data-driven decision-making. By breaking down data barriers and automating
processes, the integration facilitated real-time insights, which enhanced both decision-
making and customer service capabilities. Several lessons learned from the Reece-
SnapLogic project are identified as critical for other organizations considering similar
transformations. These include the importance of stakeholder engagement throughout
the decision-making process, the necessity of comprehensive training programs for
empowering employees, the effectiveness of a phased implementation strategy to
minimize risks, and the value of leveraging data analytics to drive operational
effectivenesS
Description
Reece, a century-old titan in the plumbing industry, sought to modernize its operations
through intelligent integration. Recognizing the strategic imperative, Reece partnered
with SnapLogic, a pioneer in AI-driven integration platforms. This alliance aimed to
dismantle data silos, foster seamless collaboration, and accelerate digital
transformation (SnapLogic 2022). The partnership proved remarkably fruitful, slashing
implementation time by half and reducing the integration team by 50% compared to an
in-house approach (SnapLogic 2022). These quantifiable results underscore the potency
of the partnership, demonstrating how SnapLogic's technology synergistically amplified
Reece's strategic vision. Beyond operational efficiency, the collaboration positioned
Reece as a digital innovator, capable of adapting swiftly to evolving market dynamics.
Reece Ltd. is a long-standing leader in the plumbing and bathroom supplies industry in
Australia. With branches and distribution centres spread across Australia, New Zealand,
and the United States, the company's success relies on smooth supply chain
management, excellent customer service, and decisions backed by data (SnapLogic
2022). However, its old ERP system had become a hindrance, with its rigid nature,
difficulty with customization, and inability to connect with new technologies leading to
isolated data, inefficiencies, and a fragmented view of the company, slowing Reece's
ability to respond to market changes (SnapLogic 2022). Recognizing the need to update
its operations, Reece made a strategic decision to move away from its all-in-one ERP,
opting for specialized software tailored to specific business needs (Thompson 2022).
Opting for specialized software, while offering flexibility and efficiency, brought new
challenges. The diverse systems demanded a strong integration platform for smooth
communication and data flow. Reece chose SnapLogic after evaluating various
Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) options. Its user-friendly interface, robust
visualizations, pre-built connectors, and AI-driven automation aligned with Reece's goals
(SnapLogic 2022). The implementation of SnapLogic was successful, completing in half
the anticipated time and halving the integration team, which saved costs (SnapLogic
2022). This integration helped break down data barriers, streamline processes, and
provide real-time insights, aiding decision-making and improving customer experiences.
Partnering with SnapLogic transformed Reece's IT landscape and positioned them as a
digital leader, ready to adapt and deliver value.
