Abstract

A DC microgrid system has many elements and is used to perform a variety of functions, with each component requiring different tolerances. Microgrid systems are utilized frequently and are evolving tremendously as well as improving our world today. Also, they are clean sources, simpler, and significantly more efficient than other power sources. This document will assess the knowledge and importance of DC Photovoltaic systems along with the efficiency and the power generated by the distributed renewable energy sources. The DC microgrid system will be implanted in the SouthWest Technology Development Institute (SWTDI), which is an energy research and university-based development organization. SWTDI is powered by solar energy and is distributed in some sectors of the New Mexico State University. v The results and simulations of boost converter circuits using open and closed systems for two different inputs will be discussed and analyzed. In addition, the theoretical calculations using the design criteria for the power system will be determined and compared to the simulated results from MATLAB Simulink.
