Abstract Modern architectural and interior designs are gradually replacing the local traditional look of the Najd region in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This research project explores the importance of preserving the local identity while incorporating modern designs. The design of vacation houses – with a modern-traditional design – in Najd will contribute greatly to preserving the local identity while coexisting with existing designs. Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision aims to create an appreciation of the local culture while using modern approaches. Sources reinforce the idea of preserving the local heritage, without serving as an odd design which would not complement designs already in place.
