Role play emerges as a dynamic and invaluable asset within language education, facilitating immersive learning experiences and fostering communicative proficiency among learners. Its integration into pedagogical frameworks not only cultivates linguistic competence but also nurtures critical socio-linguistic skills essential for real-world interactions. While challenges such as logistical constraints and learner apprehensions persist, empirical studies attest to the transformative potential of role play in enhancing language acquisition and fluency across diverse learner demographics. Looking ahead, ongoing research endeavors and pedagogical innovations hold promise for refining role play methodologies, thereby equipping learners with the requisite linguistic dexterity to navigate multicultural communicative landscapes adeptly. By embracing role play as a cornerstone of language pedagogy, educators can empower learners to engage meaningfully in global discourse and realize their communicative potential in an increasingly interconnected world.
Abstract: This study presents the role of role-play in fostering oral expression. The study starts with a theoretical overview of role-play, its importance, advantages, and limitations. After this theoretical background, three practical samples of applying role-play in classrooms are investigated in details, the studies were conducted in three different geographical contexts, and on different levels of students. The study concludes with a comparison between these three sample articles and their results on improving oral expressions.
