Item Restricted Bridging Tradition And Modernity: People’s Perceptions of Social Media's Impact on Realizing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030(Ohio University, 2025-05) Alharethi, Mesfer; Khan, LaeeqThis research investigates how nation branding and social media influence public perceptions and travel intentions regarding Saudi Arabia, particularly in the context of Vision 2030. The study evaluates the impact of platforms such as TikTok on emotional engagement and travel motivations by analyzing the interplay between push and pull factors. A descriptive, cross-sectional correlational approach was employed, gathering data through an online survey of 426 Saudi nationals aged 18 and above who regularly engage with social media. Inferential statistics reveal that nation branding as measured by knowledge of Vision 2030 significantly correlates with increased knowledge of tourism opportunities (r = .519, p < .001) and travel intentions (r = .259, p < .001). Emotional appeal was also a critical factor, as respondents who followed TikTok influencers creating Saudi tourism content exhibited significantly higher emotional perceptions (t = 5.20, p < .001). In addition, a strong correlation was found between push factors (r = .507, p < .001), pull factors (r = .463, p < .001), and the likelihood of considering Saudi Arabia as a tourist destination. The results highlight how incorporating social media into nation branding efforts can drive significant change. By offering empirical data on the influence of TikTok, this research contributes to academic discourse while delivering actionable recommendations to support the tourism goals of Vision 2030.26 0Item Restricted Renewable Energy and Saudi Arabia Vision 2030: A Case Study of Masdar City(Saudi Digital Library, 2023-06-16) Alzahrani, Anas Khaled; Peker, Asli; Fousek, JohnThe thesis focuses on renewable energy in Saudi Arabia in the context of Vision 2030, through the International Company for Water and Power Projects (ACWA Power) to reduce oil dependency for revenues and develop a sustainable environment. The vision has set the goal of achieving 50% electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030. The Economic and Developmental Affairs Council developed the vision on 25th April 2016 when the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman first announced it. The vision aims to increase the Kingdom’s non-oil trade by developing the solar panel market. In chapter two, a literature analysis evaluating the views of various scholars regarding renewable energy in Saudi Arabia is provided and the research adopts the Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) and Sustainability theories to focus the research on the theme of sustainability. The thesis is constructed as a policy paper and uses the case of Masdar City and the textual analysis of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) report to evaluate the implementation of the policies within Vision 2030 regarding renewable energy use. In chapter five, a case study and results from a public opinion survey are used to help understand how Saudi Arabia can exploit its renewable energy potential and educate the mass public to support the initiative. As the case study shows, Masdar The city provides a blueprint for a carbon-free environment that upholds all three pillars of sustainability (economic, social, and environmental).89 0Item Restricted Play-Based Pedagogies in Saudi Kindergartens: Examining Teachers’ Perceptions and Practices(ProQuest, 2023-02-16) Alharbi, Manal; Blank, JolynIn this study, I explored three Saudi kindergarten teachers’ play-based pedagogies. I conducted a qualitative case study (Stake, 1994) in order to examine these teachers’ perceptions of play and describe the ways they incorporated play into their classrooms. My research questions were: How do three Saudi kindergarten teachers perceive play-based learning? In what ways do three Saudi kindergarten teachers implement play-based learning? Participants taught kindergarten in a large private school that served early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students in Saudi Arabia. Classroom observations and interviews with the teachers were the central data sources. To analyze the data, I conducted a thematic analysis following Clark and Braun’s (2013) process. I found that teachers believed in the benefits of play for children’s learning and development and believed in the influence of their involvement in children’s learning and play. The teachers indicated that a purposeful play which targets academic learning would also promote children’s developmental skills. Further, teachers expressed hopes to develop the education of early childhood to enhance children's learning outcomes and to enhance their practices in the field. Implications and recommendations for future research from the study findings were discussed.75 0
