Social and Cultural Impacts of Saudi Arabia Hosting the Italian Super Cup
(Saudi Digital Library, 2025-05-01) Manqarah, Hawra; Pomfret, Gill
This dissertation explores the social and cultural impacts of Saudi Arabia hosting the Italian Super Cup, in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The study investigates how this international sports event influenced national pride, community cohesion, cultural exchange, and Saudi Arabia’s global image. A gap in the academic literature was identified concerning mid-sized sporting events in Gulf countries, making this research particularly relevant. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through a digital survey of 61 Saudi citizens who either attended or followed the event. The findings show that participants generally had positive perceptions of the Super Cup, especially in terms of promoting cultural understanding and enhancing national identity. Many respondents supported the idea of hosting similar events in the future, though some limitations were noted, particularly regarding local community involvement in the event’s planning. Overall, the study concludes that mid-sized international sports events like the Italian Super Cup can serve as powerful tools for national branding, cultural diplomacy, and tourism development. Recommendations include improving community participation and conducting long-term evaluations to better align with Vision 2030’s strategic goals.

(Saudi Digital Library, 2024) Alrasheed, Abdulaziz; Iveson, Kieron
This study aimed to evaluate whether organisational CSR practices have a positive impact on the achievement of sustainable development goals and establish whether companies’ documented CSR achievements tally with reality through a case study analysis of Unilever Company. The was based on qualitative secondary data collected from Unilever’s CSR and sustainability reports, academic literature, third-party evaluations and assessments reports, and media publications. The data collected was analysed thematically to identify patterns and themes. The study found that CSR initiatives conform with SDGs in intent; however, there effects and execution are not uniform across regions. CSR initiatives have made significant strides in attaining sustainable development, but their successes are limited by a lack of uniform implementation and the consequent weak and inconsistent disclosure of actual sustainability outcomes. The study also noted discrepancies between the CSR accomplishments documented by companies and the real outcomes on the ground particularly in the developing nations where there is comparatively low regulatory oversight. It was concluded that although CSR initiatives help in attaining sustainable development, there is a need a fair, realistic and useful policies to tackle the expectations of the stakeholders globally.

The Impact of Hosting Major Sporting Events on The Image of Tourism Destinations; A case study of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
(Saudi Digital Library, 2023-11-30) Aloufi, Turki Faleh; Kaaristo, Maarja
This research project investigated the impact of the 2012 Olympic Games on London as a tourist destination. Results show a positive economic impact on the host city, such as increased tourism, job creation, and infrastructure development. However, there were also some negative effects, such as forced relocation and increased housing costs. Hosting a major sporting event can bring lasting benefits to a destination's image, tourism appeal, and economy, but there can also be disruption to daily routines, strain on local resources, and congestion. The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) implemented initiatives to mitigate social problems and enhance the social and cultural impact of the Games. This study has confirmed the immense economic influence of these events, and recommended strategies for future host cities
