Item Restricted Integrating Digital Technologies with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to Enhance Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty in Luxury Hotels(Manchester metropolitan university, 2024) Assiri, Tarek; Cosser, GillianThis study investigates the integration of digital technologies—namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data analytics—into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems in luxury hotels. The research evaluates the impact of these technologies on customer satisfaction and loyalty through a quantitative approach, utilizing data from surveys conducted with hotel front-office employees. Findings reveal a varied adoption of digital tools, with IoT significantly enhancing operational efficiency, Big Data analytics improving customer retention strategies, and AI demonstrating underutilization due to staff training challenges. The study underscores the importance of aligning technology adoption with employee proficiency and guest expectations to optimize CRM effectiveness. Strategic recommendations include enhanced staff training programs, expansion of IoT applications, and leveraging Big Data for predictive analytics to strengthen customer relationships in the luxury hospitality sector. Limitations, such as the focus on luxury hotels and the exclusion of guest perspectives, highlight areas for future research15 0Item Restricted Integrating Vernacular Architecture Attributes into Contemporary Residential Design Utilising BIM and Digital Technologies: Comprehensive Synthesis and Evaluation(University of Liverpool, 2024) Battoyor, Mashal; Haidar, AdonisRecently, there has been a threat of losing traditions and architectural cultural identity, including the potential loss of vernacular architecture due to several aspects, one of which is the globalisation of the construction industry. Also, there is an escalated concern regarding the detrimental environmental impact of the built environment, and sustainability practice has been heavily recommended. However, these sustainability and cultural challenges can be mitigated by preserving and integrating the accumulated knowledge of vernacular architecture into contemporary practice. Thus, this research comprehensively evaluates and synthesises literature and practical applications of integrating vernacular architecture attributes into contemporary residential design using BIM and digital technologies. It aims to establish a comprehensive framework for this integration to assist practitioners in enhancing sustainability and cultural relevance. To achieve this aim, two stages of the literature review are conducted: initial and systematic. The initial literature review establishes a critical understanding of the main concepts related to the research area. Then, the systematic literature review that follows the PRISMA 2020 guidelines is conducted to investigate and assess the current practice of BIM and digital technologies in residential vernacular architecture. The research used a mixed-methods approach involving qualitative and quantitative data to synthesise descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The result shows that BIM and digital technologies can significantly aid in integrating vernacular architecture attributes into contemporary residential design practice, mitigating sustainability and cultural relevance challenges. It also provides a comprehensive framework that shows new horizons and triggers future studies.5 0Item Restricted An Exploration of the Role of Virtual Reality in Early Childhood: A Qualitative Study Focusing on Parents’ and Carers’ Perspectives(2023-07-04) Abdulkareem, Mai; Himonides, Evangelos; Purves, RossThis study aims to investigate the potential role of virtual reality (VR) in the early childhood development (ages four to six) of Saudi children based on a qualitative approach: subjective data were collected by interviewing 20 parents or carers of Saudi children who use VR. Each child’s parents or carers were selected for interview as a couple. A semi-structured interview was held with each mother, father or carer. Traditional views in Saudi Arabia were compared with those of Saudis living in the UK, which has a different culture. Participants reported some positive effects of VR on their children: they perceived it as a source of distraction from pain and fear, in some cases at the physiological level. Participants considered VR to be beneficial for developing cognitive and academic skills, self-awareness, self-confidence and empathy. VR also improved self-regulation at the emotional and behavioural levels, including attention control, working memory, impulse inhibition, waiting for one’s turn and task completion. However, participants also reported adverse effects, indicating specific health risks, false memories and addiction at the physiological level; reservations existed concerning inappropriate content at the cognitive level. Other undesirable effects attributed to VR included social isolation, inability to control emotional expression at the emotional and social levels and encouragement of anger at the behavioural level. These results indicate that VR is a viable choice for young children, though adult supervision is still required. However, they also offer a warning about the effects that may result from VR overuse or misuse. The study also showed a lack of meaningful content and variety in commercial VR games, and thus it would benefit from the participation of educators and specialists in developing design strategies. This project represents a novel preliminary approach for future research concerning the influence of VR on the essential aspects of early childhood development.59 0
