Abstract
Abstract This dissertation explores whether the remaining parts of Qatif Castle should be adaptively reused, and which type of reuse would be most suitable based on theoretical frameworks and community perspectives. The study adopts a mixed methods approach, combining semi-structured interviews with seven participants from different generations and an online survey completed by 825 community members. The findings reveal strong emotional and cultural attachment to the castle, especially among those who identify as Qalaawi/Qalaawiyah. While older generations express lived memories of the castle, younger participants often connect through inherited stories, reflecting intergenerational transmission of identity. Results show that the museum is the most widely supported reuse option, followed by community spaces, while a hotel was largely rejected due to fears of commercialisation and loss of authenticity. The research concludes that Qatif Castle should be revived as a living cultural space that preserves memory, reinforces identity, and bridges generational connections, ensuring its value continues for future generation
