Are functional treatments effective for chronic ankle instability in athletes? A Scoping Review?
Abstract
Conclusion: The review provides limited evidence for the use of functional treatment methods for chronic ankle instability, with balance training being the dominant one. Balance training is critical because CAI causes decreased postural control and increased instability. The implication for research is that more RCTs should be conducted, providing detailed and accurate reporting to help clinicians and other healthcare decision-makers in implementation of evidence-based care.
