Abstract

The concept of knowledge and the knowledge society spread several years ago in Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the Saudi Vision 2030 since it promotes focusing on the intellectual source of community members, which mainly revolves around knowledge. To activate this knowledge, it requires them to apply knowledge practices, on top of which is knowledge sharing (KS). It needs support, and the presence of experience that is interested in managing projects that transfer the current situation of individuals, sectors and the country to a better level, quickly and thoughtfully, to reach the highest goals of knowledge, which is innovation. The role of Saudi project management organisations (PMOs) has emerged recently to achieve all this. However, Saudi researchers’ studies lack focus on knowledge practices in these organisations, to analyse their ability to support Vision 2030. Besides, the ceiling of competition has become higher since Saudi Arabia allowed foreign investors to enter the Saudi market. The research seeks to know the extent to which digital platforms contribute to successful KS and stimulating innovative ideas in Saudi PMOs. The aim of this research is for KS to be the centre of research - whether it is a cause or a means, being the connecting point between the research aspects, in addition to being the support valve and the competitive advantage for Saudi small/medium-sized PMOs. Therefore, this research tries to support Saudi PMOs to strengthen their position in the market. The research followed a qualitative-dominant mixed-methods approach. Thus, a case study strategy on a medium-sized PMO and an online questionnaire were used to collect primary and secondary data to give the research adequate coverage to answer its specific question.
