Sports is a relatively new domain in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Despite that, the country has already made significant and notable successes in this sector, especially in the field of elite event hosting. In this dissertation, the progress made within the current policy landscapes are recognized. Thus, focusing on the challenges faced by lower-income communities in accessing sport and physical activity in Saudi Arabia is crucial for addressing the report’s core issue. Accordingly, drawing on secondary data helped identify challenges like affordability, accessibility and cultural perception. Finally, further policy recommendations were suggested in order to stress on the need for new grassroot policies in order to overcome these barriers.
