dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this paper is to examine and assess current control techniques utilized in vertical farming systems with a specific emphasis on enhancing efficiency, sustainability and long-term sustainability. The expansion of vertical farming has been spurred by recent technological breakthroughs and growing worries about food security. This has created a need for strong control systems to assure the best possible plant growth and efficient use of resources. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of various control systems in vertical farming, including both manual techniques and sophisticated model-based approaches, by building upon current literature and research in the field. The research evaluates the effects of different control approaches on agricultural yields and long-term sustainability by employing a blend of experimental design and engineering design procedures. In order to maximize plant growth and resource utilization, the project makes use of hydroponics and Internet of Things (IoT) technology. By supplying a nutrient-rich solution straight to the roots of the plants, the hydroponics system ensures effective nutrient uptake and does away with the need for soil. The system will be equipped with IoT sensors to track multiple parameters such as supply of nutrient solution and water levels in the system. In order to maximize nutrient solution replenishment and guarantee ideal plant growth conditions, this data will be gathered and examined in real-time. To ensure that every plant receives the same amount of sunlight throughout the day, the system will also include a rotating mechanism. This strategy will reduce the requirement for artificial lighting while optimizing photosynthetic efficiency.
