This thesis contributes to understanding the integration experiences of foreign nurses in Saudi healthcare settings and provides recommendations for improving organisational support and policy development.
This study explores the lived experiences of foreign nurses adapting to work in Saudi Arabian hospitals. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, the research examines how nurses from diverse cultural backgrounds make sense of their professional and personal adaptation within a new healthcare environment. Data were collected through semi-structured face-to-face interviews with fifteen foreign nurses working in different clinical departments. The findings highlight key themes including language barriers, cultural adjustment, organisational challenges, support systems, and personal resilience. The study provides valuable insights for healthcare leaders and policymakers to improve integration strategies, enhance job satisfaction, and support workforce sustainability in line with Saudi Arabia’s healthcare transformation goals.
