Simulation of the impact of different 40K beta spectral shapes on luminescence dosimetry
Abstract
This project investigates the impact of different beta spectral shapes on
luminescent grains; namely Quartz, K-feldspar and potassium chloride KCl. A recent review
on Dose rate conversion parameter has shown that there is inconstancy between Nuclear decay
libraries about potassium 40. This radioisotope contributes around 30-40 % of the total beta
dose-rate that occur naturally in the environment. So it is essential to discern the extent of the
inconstancy on luminescent dosimetry and therefore luminescent dating.
