Abstract
The Saudi Arabian healthcare system is being reformed as part of the
government's the Vision 2030 initiative. This shift entails the development of a
value-based healthcare system centred on population health. The Saudi
Ministry of Health is overseeing this transformation, but challenges persist in
translating strategy into action. The failure rate for strategy implementation is
reported to be as high as 90%. By conducting comprehensive literature review,
this research study examines the crucial role that strategic leadership can play
in bridging the gap between strategy formulation and execution. The study
highlights the importance of communication, collaboration and a conductive
organisational culture in the successful execution of a strategy. Practical
recommendations are made to enhance strategic leadership competencies and
align organisational structures with strategic objectives. This research confirms
the critical role of that strategic leadership can play to ensure successful
healthcare outcomes in Saudi Arabia.
