Abstract
This study conducts an in-depth exploration of electrical machines and their application within the context of electric vehicles (EVs). With EVs as the designated focal point, the motor specifications of the 2018 Nissan Leaf SV serve as the defined objective parameters. By leveraging foundational principles in electrical machine design, prudent assumptions, and systematic analysis, this research introduces a model for a permanent magnet (PM) motor. The principal aim of this model is to fulfil the stipulated performance criteria. Subsequently, the proposed model underwent simulation and meticulous examination through the utilization of the MotorCad software, thereby validating the achieved results. Additionally, an exhaustive assessment encompassing thermal properties and material characteristics was performed. Furthermore, a rudimentary comparative analysis between PM motors and induction motors (IMs) was executed. The findings underscore that the targeted specifications can be realized by varying parameter configurations and also highlight the operational efficiency of the proposed system.
