The energy conversion efficiency of solar cells using perovskite has increased by 23.23%; this has resulted in inorganic perovskite becoming one of the most attractive research topics in the field of photovoltaic perovskites in recent years. This study will present a review of inorganic perovskite solar cells, a background on photovoltaics, and the different generations of solar cells. In addition, perovskite materials and structure are discussed including crystal structure and stability, hybrid, and all-inorganic metal halide perovskites. The synthesis of colloidal quantum dots and film formation will be summarised; also, perovskite solar cells including single-junction cells, tandem solar cells, and dye solar cells (DSSC) will be presented. Finally, the stability of inorganic perovskites will be assessed.
