Identification of T Follicular Helper (TFH)-like γδ T cells in Behçet's disease

Abstract

The roles of γδ T and NK cells in BD have been demonstrated; however, the involvement of γδ T cells in antibody-mediated immunity in BD has not been reported to date. The present experimental study aimed to investigate the phenotypes of and differences in the frequencies of γδ T, B, and NK cell subpopulations as well as to assess the expression of TFH markers by peripheral γδ T cells, indicating interactions with B cells and involvement in autoantibody production, amongst patients with BD presenting mucocutaneous and ocular involvement compared with healthy controls (HCs).
