Urban competitiveness has become increasingly critical in the era of globalisation and rapid technological change, as cities strive to attract investment, talent, and innovation. This research delves into the contribution of innovation clusters to urban economic competitiveness, focusing specifically on MediaCityUK in Greater Manchester. Through a comprehensive mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews, statistical analysis, and policy reviews, this study evaluates MediaCityUK’s role in enhancing Greater Manchester’s economy. The findings underscore MediaCityUK as a crucial player in job creation, skills development, and economic productivity, particularly within the digital and creative industries. However, the research also highlights challenges such as the need for a more cohesive vision, better leadership, and improved access to funding, which currently limit the cluster's full potential. This study offers critical insights into the dynamics of innovation clusters and provides strategic recommendations for leveraging them to bolster urban economic competitiveness in Greater Manchester and similar urban areas.
