Abstract
As the concept of Smart City continues to grow, it is important to integrate more security and sustainability features to our technology. For this reason, this dissertation focuses on a detailed review of the Smart Kiosks InLinkUK. The paper addresses some of the potential attacks and threats on the Smart Kiosks, Distributed Denial-of- Service (DDoS), their effects, and providing some of the technical solutions to mitigate the attack. The Smart Kiosks are quite a new idea in most cities and a part of the “Smart Cities” evolution. Furthermore. InLinkUK offers a new combination of communication information provisions which are innovated in a digital manner. The review will address information regarding the Smart Kiosks from a public perspective to understand the experience the users have regarding the innovation. The review also seeks to understand more about the emergent issues in the Smart Kiosks development to identify the areas that needs further research on. The study mainly focuses on potential attacks and especially DDoS resulting from implementing the Smart Kiosks in the UK cities. This review will go further in providing the responsible institutions in the development of the Smart Kiosks to ensure that the project is positively received and embraced in the public and effectively serves its intended purposes.
