Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in Children and their Parents after PICU Hospitalisation

Abstract

Although insufficient evidence has investigated the phenomena of the research question, the currently available knowledge shows that children and their parents are at risk for developing PTSD after their PICU hospitalisation. Future studies could significantly help to improve our knowledge about the risk factors of paediatric and parental PTSD post-PICU admission. They would also be crucial to establishing evidence-based interventions and rehabilitation programmes during and after the PICU hospitalisation.
