Development of paper-based lateral flow blood coagulation assay: active partial thromboplastin time test.
Abstract
The primary aim of the work will be to develop and test a paper-based coagulation device based on the active partial thromboplastic time test. In order to achieve this the following objectives were identified. Firstly, identify whether an effective paper-based coagulation device can be developed for use in low resource countries, and Identify the effectiveness of a wax printing system on Whatman no. 1 paper to develop lateral flow test strips. In addition to, identifying the most effective means of depositing aPTT reagent (manual /inkjet printer) and the speed / distance travelled to differentiate between plasma clotting time and lastly identify an effective means of separating clot from serum.
