A Better Understanding of the Role of Leadership During Crises
Abstract
There have been many questions regarding how strategic leaders can make an organization succeed when there are many uncertainties and especially during crises. Researchers have come up with many frameworks and conceptualizations relevant to effective leadership and there have been many historical examples that proved these models to be effective. When these models and outcomes are combined, it can be concluded clearly that the answer to most woes of an organization is communication through engagement. Mostly, engagement in decision making processes has been the most helpful change that an organization goes through when there is uncertainty. With a strategic leader who portrays the significant values that are required in order to engage employees and gain their trust, the organization will benefit. Historically, organizations benefited both financially and morally as all of their stakeholders found positivity in engagement and their uncertainties were alleviated with more access to the organization’s leadership and relevant information. In this dissertation, strategic leadership was found to be significant in determining the relationship between employees and the organization and had a great role in reducing uncertainty, especially during crises.
