Abstract
This research explores the challenges in construction project management in Saudi
Arabia, focusing on factors contributing to delays. The study uses a case study
methodology, focusing on the Saudi Binladin Group (SBG), a key player in the
construction industry. The research aims to identify and analyze the challenges
preventing timely project completion in Saudi Arabia. The study uses an online
questionnaire survey, engaging 70 SBG employees, to gather insights from project
managers, engineers, and stakeholders. The survey covers aspects like project
planning, organizational culture and structure, resource allocation, stakeholder
collaboration, risk management, and technology integration. The findings will
significantly contribute to engineering management by highlighting the specific
challenges faced by construction projects in Saudi Arabia, particularly within the SBG
framework. The research emphasizes the importance of understanding these factors
to inform strategic engineering management practices, emphasizing adaptive
approaches and strategic recommendations such as enhanced communication along
with technological integration to mitigate delays. This will ensure successful
completion of construction projects in the dynamic Saudi Arabian construction
landscape.
