Abstract
Due to the high global electricity prices due to the high prices of conventional sources of electricity,
such as oil, coal and gas, and also the real fears of a shortage or even the end of those conventional
sources soon, it is important to explore alternative sources of energy. In addition, it is also worth
noting the political turmoil caused by a few countries’ monopolisation of these conventional sources
as well as the fears of what could happen to supply chains if these supply sources were affected for
any reason, which would hurt global energy production. These conventional sources of energy also
cause great environmental damage, such as global warming and pollution. Furthermore, due to
scientific developments in energy conversion and production technologies, the focus has moved
towards renewable energy. Despite the diversity of renewable energy sources, solar energy has
been the most attractive energy source for many compelling reasons. It has source abundance, is
free to use and involves simple energy production, all of which make solar energy the cornerstone
of renewable energy of various types.
However, the accumulation of dust on solar panels and the difficulty, cost and damage of manual
cleaning methods have become a barrier to adopting this technology. Therefore, self-cleaning
technology can further increase the popularity of solar panel technology. In this paper, the best solar
panel technologies and the best self-cleaning methods will be studied to produce a successful selfcleaning solar panel product. It will also make a business plan for the creation of a successful
company in Saudi Arabia, which will highlight all the relevant aspects to succeed in the Saudi energy
market.
