Abstract

Recently, the increasing demand for electric power and the development of renewable energy sources and its integration to the traditional grid have introduced the concept of microgrid, due to its small size and the ability to enable the integration of renewable energy sources and battery storage system to the grid. However, this creates some challenges related to power management due to the unpredictable power generation based on weather condition, voltage level for each subsystem and the power flow within system. Microgrids can be DC, AC and AC/DC hybrid. In this paper, there is DC-microgrid connected to the AC grid, while the DC microgrid consists of PV solar system, battery storage system and DC loads. In order to manage the power within system, some power electronics converters will be used. Hence, for DC microgrid the PV solar system will be controlled by boost converter, the battery system will be controlled by bidirectional buck-boost converter and the DC loads will be controlled by buck converter. On the other hand, DC-AC converter will be used to interconnect the DC microgrid with the AC grid. This system will be applied with Multiple Buses. Each system and its control will be simulated, analyzed and investigated.
