A Modifiable Native XML Module Database for the Faculty of Engineering

Abstract

The current website of the University of Sheffield does not provide an easy way of accessing the available modules that are being taught in the Faculty of Engineering. Moreover, it is inconvenient for all faculty members, students and accrediting bodies since they all need to access the modules’ details and extract some information. Therefore, the aim of this project is to provide a system that allows its users to add, search, update and delete any module. The provided system is fast and easy to learn with simple interfaces that are understandable by all types of users. Also, its search feature allows quick access to the modules either by typing their names or numbers. However, some extra features could be added to the system in future to help increase its performance, such as ordering the search results and allowing dynamic querying.
