Abstract

Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) is a reliable technology integrated into different processes, such as in human resources (HR) to improve the productivity of recruitment processes by hiring competent employees. Considering the continuous digital transformation, multiple organisations are leveraging the benefits of innovative technologies, such as AI, to search and recruit skilled workers. Accordingly, this study mainly aimed to assess the efficiency of AI in the HR recruitment processes of UK organisations. A quantitative research method was employed on data collected using an online survey. The study used 55 respondents from different organisations in the UK’s banking, information technology, consulting and other sectors. Findings indicated that several UK organisations have not adopted AI systems in their HR hiring process. Increased AI use significantly contributed to time and cost savings, competent employee identification, candidate engagement and improved recruitment and selection process productivity. AI’s efficiency enabled UK organisations to save costs and through an improved and reliable model for hiring skilled workers. Such a model does not require human recruiters who could bias their decision-making when hiring potential employees. Moreover, AI helped significantly reduce bias and strengthen the relationship with candidates, thus ensuring a transparent and effective entire hiring process. However, the potential hacking of AI systems has raised concerns. Thus, the study recommended further improving AI systems to safeguard candidate data.
