dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this dissertation was to review hazardous wastes generation and disposal in the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The selection of these two countries was for comparison between the developed country against the developing country in term of hazardous waste management, regulations applied, and by learning lessons from country with best hazardous waste management practices. This work has studied the hazardous wastes management starting from waste reduction at point of origin, recycling, treatment, and final disposal of hazardous wastes. Protecting the environment and living creatures from negative impacts of hazardous wastes was one of the reasons for this work. Additionally, process modifications and recommendations have done to divert hazardous wastes to be landfilled for better environmental, to recover most of valuable products after treatment for more economical benefits and utilize the products to be used as sustainable energy sources. Finally, this work has highlighted topics and areas that would be advantageous for future works.
