Abstract

This study set out to explore the impacts of multiple food safety audits on the small food businesses in the Midlands. The findings from the study can be divided based on the results of the data from the samples’ surveys. The analysis of the two samples leads to the following conclusions: • For the caterers: The data shows that most of the food business were restaurants, and the majority of them were audited against the food safety standard of the Local authorities enforced legal requirements. Moreover, they are audited by external food safety audits, despite their own internal food safety audit. The key findings from this survey, was the cost of food safety audits which were increased in the last 2-3 years, as well as the number of food safety audit. • For the large-event venues: The data confirmed that 50% of the event companies accepted audit commissioned by other organization and 50% did not accept.
