Abstract
Healthcare professionals' increasing adaptation and advancements in electronic medical records (EMRs) allow patients easy access to clinical information and actively participate in quality care through different patient portals. Healthcare organizations can help patients access their information through patient portals. A patient portal is an online and secure source of personal health information such as laboratory tests, medication lists, allergies, immunizations, and discharge information. They can also facilitate "patient-provider communication" using secure appointments, messaging, and prescription refill demand. The study aims to pinpoint a deploying strategy for patient portal features that reflect patient requirements and inclinations. It delves into the synchronization of launch schedules with patient preferences, obstacles associated with portal use, and requirements that could elevate portal utilization. The study employed a survey methodology that integrated both quantitative and descriptive approaches. With a primary focus on patients as the target population. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS software, revealing crucial factors impacting patient portal utilization, encompassing positive and negative influences that impact the use of patient portals. The study's findings indicate Patient preferences and interests are influential factors that shape the utilization and success of patient portal features. Patients are more inclined to engage with patient portal features when the launch schedule aligns with their preferences. The timely introduction of functionalities that cater to patients' needs and health goals increases adoption rates. Patients with access to portals tend to prefer using them when they perceive benefits such as convenient appointment scheduling, secure messaging with healthcare providers, and easy access to their health information. Barriers to usage include technological challenges, concerns about data privacy, and a preference for traditional communication methods. Effective promotion of patient portal benefits, coupled with comprehensive patient education, can address usage barriers, and increase patient engagement.
