Abstract
Abstract
Purpose
The purpose of this dissertation is to investigate whether any differences occur in the
visitors flows regarding the perceived benefits of using technology in the grand mosque
arenas (Al-Masjed Al-Haram) biassed on crowds managing criteria.
Design/ approach/ methodology
Taking a smart approach, this paper considered an abridged way of both qualitative and
quantitative methodologies through relevant event studies, a questionnaire and an
interview to compare whether any differences happen in the visitors' numbers
considering the benefits of using technology in Al-Masjed Al-Haram venues biassed on
crowds managing criteria which will underpin the development of the event place.
Findings
The findings of this study revealed that event specialists believe that some areas have
been thoroughly explored and that additional research is unlikely to yield any new
knowledge. These include the definitions and types of events, as well as event logistics
and staging. This study also revealed a gap in the body of knowledge regarding Indigenous
events.
Originality/value
The dissertation presents a complete overview of relevant studies, offering critical
information for the workplace and its surroundings. Furthermore, the dissertation
outlines research gaps that could be filled with future research, as well as places where
additional research is unlikely to give new knowledge.
